Jammu, March 04 (KNO) : After a lull of 24 hours, India and Pakistan armies Monday exchanged gunfire along Line of Control in Poonch district. According to KNO correspondent, officials said Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing of small arms in Poonch Sector at about 1730 hours. "Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively," officials said. Earlier, Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch districts on Saturday night and Sunday witnessed a calm day with no fresh ceasefire violation reported till 09 PM on Sunday. Officials had said that from 06 PM on Saturday evening to 09 PM on Sunday, no fresh incident of LoC firing has taken place. "Situation by and large remained peaceful but it is referred to as uneasy calm and entire LoC area is still gripped in panic," officials said. They said that around 42 people from Jhulas Salhotri village had already migrated to a temporary relief camp set by authorities while few villagers from forward Chajjla are camping in a shrine in the area. Pertinently, tension is prevailing on Line of Control post Pulwama militant attack, with heavy cross border firing and shelling took place in last two days, leading to death of two women, a boy and a baby girl in Chajjla and Jhulas Salhotri villages of Poonch besides injuries to many others across Rajouri and Poonch districts.(KNO)
